Paradise City

21 Dec

I have no words. I am a giddy, jubilant fanboy right now.

The Dark Knight trailer!Really terrific. The still photos we had previously seen of the Joker didn’t do him any justice.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army Trailer! It looks like a mix of Pan’s Labyrinth, with the Lord of the Rings, with Hellboy. It’s an original story, not an adaptation, and it’s perfect Mike Mignolia, from what we’ve seen

*shuts down*

ADDENDUM: Because wonderfulness comes at us in threes, look! A sneak clip at Henry Selick’s (the man who did Nightmare Before Christmas, and James and the Giant Peach) adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Coraline. Again, utterly gorgeous.

Those are cool, but I’m really geeked over the upcoming Iron Man.

And the use of the Sabbath song just gives me goosebumps.

How could I fail to mention that? Yeah, I’m hugely excited about the Iron Man movie too. I’m ambivalent toward Iron Man and Tony Stark in the comics right now, but the movie just looks terrific. And Iron Man himself looks gorgeous. And that’s a terrific use of the most obvious Sabbath song ever. *shiver*

No, we’re manly men with manly interests into manly…things.

Iron Man looks like it COULD actually be competition against The Dark Knight, though that’d be tough. Honestly, Hellboy’s going to be the surprise one to beat. It shows enough of Pan Labyrinth in it to let us know that del Toro is really opening up on this one. Guillermo and Mike Mignolia have a similar enough imagination (the mythic, the macabre, Lovecraft) that they can really fire off each other. It’ll be brilliant. But then, having now seen the Joker in motion….Oh man.

And Iron Man. Tony Stark is hilariously portrayed in that trailer. “Would it be cool if I took a picture with you?” “Yes. It would be cool to be in a picture with me.” Terrific.
